Providing emergency and transitional supplies for unmet material needs of children and families in crisis.

We would like to give a huge thank you for all who came to the benefit. The benefit was a huge success. Bob H. Smith received a wheelchair that was donated by Alan & Janet Specia, Jean, Maria & Bill Kortenhaus, Rich & Eileen Specia. The wheelchair belonged to Violet Specia who passed away from MS about 8 months ago.

All proceeds from the benefit went directly to Bob H. Smith for retrofitting the wheelchair and however Bob decides to spend the rest of the money that was raised.

The Bob H. Smith Wheelchair Benefit was held on September 6th 2009 at The Legendary Stone Pony in Asbury Park. The benefit was co-produced and co-sponsored by The McCourtney And Friends Foundation and Computer Doctors.

Bob H. Smith is a very kind and caring person who was diagnosed with a spinal cord tumor 3 years ago.

The surgery left him paralyzed from the ribcage down. Bob is now bed-ridden at a long term care facility in Brick, NJ. Bobs constant medical needs prohibit him from ever living on his own again.

Medicare has denied Bob H. Smith his wheelchair that he so desperately needs to live some resemblance of a normal life with his disability.

This benefit raised enough money to get Bob H. Smith the wheelchair and to try to give him hope and some positivity in his life. This benefit also helped raise awareness on the current dilema that many Americans face without a national healthcare system in place.

We would like to thank The Stone Pony who gave the benefit a $1500.00 discount on the rental of the venue for the benefit. They also were kind enough to let the benefit happen on Labor Day weekend. We would like to give a special thanks to Kyle Brendle who helped get this benefit out of the planning stages, he also effortlessly promoted the benefit. We would also like to thank Carolyn O'Toole the general manager of The Stone Pony for allowing the benefit to happen and for the discount on the venue for the benefit.

We would also like to thank the Don Stine from the Coaster magazine for running a full page article promoting the benefit the week before the date of the benefit. Without that article, the Specia family would have never known about the benefit and they would not have donated their wheelchair to Bob.

We would also like to thank Peter Cataldo and Kimberly Wessels for their graphic design donations for the promotional end of the benefit.

We would also like to thank Moira Horan, Pat Whitley, Heather Ruch, Kimberly Wessels, and Kate Bielski for lending a hand with the silent auction and 50/50 raffle. Both were huge successes thank to all who donated and for the time and effort promoting both during the day of the benefit.
